1. LIEUTENAT-COLONEL SHAWN MOUSSEAU WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 4 SEPTEMBER 2021 AFTER 25 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.

2. LCOL MOUSSEAU ENROLLED IN THE CAF IN JUNE 1996 UNDER THE REGULAR OFFICER TRAINING PLAN AND GRADUATED FROM ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA. FOLLOWING HIS TRAINING AS A SIGNALS OFFICER, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO 2 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP. HE ALSO HAD THE OPERTUNITY TO SERVE WITH 71 COMMUNICATIONS GROUP, 5 AREA SUPPORT GROUP, DIRECTOR MILITARY CAREERS, DIRECTOR LAND FORCE DEVELOPMENT, 5 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP AND, MOST RECENTLY, DIRECTOR PROJECT DELIVERY MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS. LCOL MOUSSEAU DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN ON OPERATION ATHENA ROTO 0 WITH THE KABUL MULTINATIONAL BRIGADE SIGNAL SQUADRON AND ON OPERATION ATTENTION ROTO 0 AS A MENTOR WITH THE AFGHAN NATIONAL ARMY SIGNAL SCHOOL.

3. LCOL MOUSSEAU WISHES TO HIGHLIGHT THAT COMMANDING 5 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNALS SQUADRON SERVING AS A MENTOR WITH THE AFGHAN NATIONAL ARMY SIGNAL SCHOOL ARE LIFE EXPERIENCES HE WILL NEVER FORGET.

4. LCOL MOUSSEAU IS HUMBLED BY THE PROFFESIONALISM AND DEDICATION OF THE MANY INDIVUDUALS WITH WHOM IT WAS HIS GREAT PRIVILEDGE TO SERVE AND WOULD LIKE TOOFFER SPECIAL RECOGNITION TO HIS FAMILY FOR THEIR SUPPORT THROUGHOUTHIS CAREER.

5. LCOL MOUSSEAU AND HIS WIFE CAROLINE WILL CONTINUE TO RESIDE IN GATINEAU WITH THEIR CHILDREN ZOE, EMMA AND MATHIS. LCOL MOUSSEAU WILL BE UNDERTAKING NEW CHALLENGES WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT AS A PUBLIC SERVANT.
