Retirement Date: 16/09/2024

1. LCol Eric Jodoin will retire on 16 September 2024 after 33 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces.

2. Native of Repentigny, QC, LCol Jodoin joined the RCN as a MARS officer reservist in February 1991 while studying at l’Institue Maritime du Québec (IMQ) in Rimouski. Within the year, he had transferred to the regular force and set his sight on the bridge of the soon to arrive Halifax class frigates.  The peculiarities of MARS training in the nineties motivated him to expand his horizons and prepared him well for the many challenges he would later face in his career.  His decade in the Navy is also the time when he met his Wife, Marie-Chantal and they had their two sons, Jérémy and William.  In 2001, he transferred to CELE (Air) and began to steer his own course away from the traditional path of CIS service delivery and through the uncharted waters of the Cyberspace Operations.

3. His service history includes training onboard HMCS Yukon and serving onboard HMCS Vancouver which took him as far west as Seoul South Korea and as far south as Sydney, Australia but sadly never fulfilling his lifelong dream of circumnavigating the globe. He started the RCAF chapter of his life as Project officer at 8 WTISS Trenton where he earned the opportunity to deploy to Camp Mirage as the camp A6.  He received training in amphibious operations in the short lived Standing Contingency Task Force (SCTF) in Halifax before getting a 4 years posting to NORAD-USNORTHCOM in Colorado Springs where, amongst other things, he was employed as N2C2 Cyber domain chief and thus began his transmutation into a Cyberspace SME. He served as CFNOC’s OC A Squadron / OpsO from 2011 until 2013 and at the start of the Combined Cyber Unit (CCU) between 2013 and 2015, culminating with a 6-month tour with US ARCYBER as cyber operations planner in support of CJTF-OIR in their fight against ISIS.  After a sadly too short stint at DIMEI 3-2, we was promoted to his current rank in 2017. LCol Jodoin spent the next 4 years at CJOC as the Cyber Component team lead before accepting his last posting to Kalkar Germany as Cyberspace SME to the JAPCC and Canadian CO of the Kalkar/Uedem/Wesel sector.

4. LCol Jodoin and his wife will return to Canada during APS 2024 to settle at Big White ski resort, BC where they have purchased their ski-in ski-out forever home to enjoy with their family and friends during the winter and summer seasons. In between these two periods, they will be found traveling in exotic locations, hired as house and pet sitters for executive homes, or visiting with friends and family in order to break off the monotony of skiing all winter and mountain biking all summer.

5. Due to the location of his current posting, there will not be a DWD ceremony. However, the next time he and Marie-Chantal pass through Ottawa, a small gathering with close friends and colleagues will be organized. Meanwhile, farewell messages can be sent to [email protected]

6. LCol Jodoin is grateful for the many friendships developed during his long career, and he would like to offer special recognition to his family, for their support throughout. Marie-Chantal and him look with pride and gratitude at these last 33.5 years and are honored to leave the CAF in good hands through their two sons; OCdt William Jodoin currently doing UTPNCM in North Bay, well on his way to become ACSO, and Jérémy Jodoin currently working at Pearks as Network Operations Team lead with SSC.
