1. AFTER 29 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE, MAJOR CHRISTIAN RENÉ RETIRED FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 3 JUNE 2020.

2. MAJ RENÉ JOINED THE CAF ON 28 JUNE 1990, COMPLETED HIS ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING DEGREE FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE IN KINGSTON IN 1994 AND HIS CELE (AIR) TRAINING IN EARLY 1995. HIS POSTINGS INCLUDED VHF/UHF/MICROWAVE ENGINEERING AT NDHQ DCEEM, INSTRUCTOR AND COURSE DIRECTOR FOR BCCIS AND CELE AIR BASIC COURSES AT CFSCE, OPERATIONS AND TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS OFFICER AT 8 WTIS TRENTON, A6 OPS AT THE 1 CANADIAN AIR DIVISION, STUDENT ON THE AEROSPACE SYSTEMS COURSE, J6 INTL OPS AT CEFCOM, RADAR AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS MANAGER FOR THE NORTH WARNING SYSTEM, AND FINALLY SPECTRUM ENGINEERING AT THE DND FREQUENCY SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT OFFICE. MAJ RENÉ COORDINATED THE DEPLOYMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS FOR OP MOBILE (2011, LIBYAN CONFLICT) AND THE SUSTAINMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS FOR OP HESTIA (2010, HAITI EARTHQUAKE RESPONSE). HIS OVERSEAS DEPLOYMENTS INCLUDED OP APOLLO IN THE ARABIAN PENINSULA (2002), THE UNITED NATIONS MISSION IN SUDAN (2008) AND OP ATTENTION IN AFGHANISTAN (2013).

3. MAJ RENÉ HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION AS A PUBLIC SERVANT WITHIN DND. HIS DWD IS DELAYED UNTIL THE MEASURES TO COUNTER COVID-19 ARE RELAXED TO PERMIT A SOCIAL GATHERING. HE SENDS HIS THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR MAKING HIS CAREER AN EXCEPTIONALLY REWARDING LIFETIME EXPERIENCE. MAJ RENÉ IS ESPECIALLY GRATEFUL FOR THE ENCOURAGEMENT OF HIS CHILDREN ALEXANDRE AND MAXIME, AND FOR THE STEADFAST SUPPORT OF HIS WIFE JOSÉE.
