1. MAJOR D.N. CHRETIEN WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CAF ON THE 24 JUNE 2019
WITH 28+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, THE CAF, AND THE ROYAL CANAIDAN CORPS OF SIGNALS.

2. MAJ CHRETIEN WAS SWORN IN AS A PTE AT A RECRUITMENT CENTER IN SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN ON THE 7 MARCH 1991 AND WAS POSTED TO THE CF RECRUIT SCHOOL IN CORNWALLIS, THEN ONTO KINGSTON TO COMPLETE QL3 AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS UNTIL JANUARY 1993. MAJOR CHRETIEN WAS POSTED TO PETAWAWA, ON, THE 4 JANUARY 1993 WHERE HE BEGAN WORKING WITH THE 2 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUANDRON. HE WAS PROMOTED TO CPL IN 1995 AND PARTICIPATED ON A TOUR IN YUGOSLAVIA THE NEXT YEAR. HE SPENT 8 YEARS IN PETAWAWA, WORKING WITH SEVERAL ORGANIZATIONS. HE WAS PROMOTED TO MCPL IN 1999, AND POSTED TO 2 SERVICE BATTALION. IN SEPTEMBER 2000, MAJOR CHRETIEN WAS POSTED TO WINNIPEG,MB WHERE HE BECAME THE LINE CREW 2IC FOR TWO YEARS. IN OCTOBER 2002, HE WAS PROMOTED TO SGT AND POSTED TO CFB KINGSTON AS THE LINE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN. OVER THE NEXT 9 YEARS IN KINGSTON, HE WAS PROMOTED TO WO (2005), LT (2007), AND THEN CAPTAIN IN 2009 WHICH WAS FOLLOWED BY A POSTING TO OTTAWA/HULL IN 2011. MAJOR CHRETIEN WAS POSTED TO HIS CURRENT POSITION AS THE OPERATIONS OFFICER OF 77 LINE REGIMENT AND MOVED BACK TO KINGSTON,ON IN 2017, WHERE HE PLAYED A LARGE ROLE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION. HE WAS PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK IN APRIL 2019.

3. DURING HIS TIME IN THE MILITARY HE HAD TWO CHILDREN, KAILEIGH (20) AND MIYA (14),IS SOON TO BE MARRIED TO MARIE-JOSE VAN DEN ENDE AND WILL BE A STEP FATHER TO CAMERON (19) AND TAYLOR (16). MAJOR CHRETIEN WILL BE RETIRING IN THE OTTAWA AREA AFTER ACCEPTING A PUBLIC SERVICE POSITION WITHIN DND.

4. A DWD FUNCTION WILL BE HELD TO HONOR MAJOR D.N. CHRETIEN AT THE ROYAL CANADAIN LEGION #560, 734 MONTREAL ST, IN KINGSTON ONTARIO AT 1200 HRS ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2019. $20.00 WILL BE COLLECTED AT THE DOOR TO COVER COSTS OF THE FUNCTION AND RETIREMENT GIFTS. FOOD AND DRINKS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.

Congratulations!!! Don. Thank you for your Service to Canada the C&E Branch and Corps. I recall our days spent at 2 Svc Bn 2000. You where well respected. Good times had by all. All the best in your future endeavours as you transition from CF to civil servant.
