1. AFTER 22 YEARS, 6 MONTHS, AND 3 DAYS OF DEDICATED AND LOYAL SERVICE TO CANADA (20 YEARS IN THE REGULAR FORCE AND 2 YEARS IN THE RESERVES), MAJOR JAMES LINDSAY WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON THE 17 AUGUST 2020.

2. MAJOR LINDSAY JOINED THE PRIMARY RESERVES WHEN WE WAS 16 YEARS OLD, AND HE LIKED GETTING PAID TO GO CAMPING AND HIKING SO MUCH, THAT HE JOINED THE REGULAR FORCE IN THE YEAR 2000. HE COMPLETED HIS UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE AND SIGNALS OFFICER TRAINING IN 2004.

3. HIS FIRST POSTING WAS TO CFB PETAWAWA, WHERE HE WAS THE SIGNALS OFFICER FOR THE 1ST BATTALION ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT, AS OFFICER COMMANDING CHARLIE TROOP, AND THE OPERATIONS OFFICER AT THE 2ND CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNALS SQUADRON. IN 2008 AND 2009 HE DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN FOR ELEVEN MONTHS AS OFFICER COMMANDING COMMUNICATION INFRASTRUCTURE AND SUPPORT TROOP.

4. BETWEEN 2009 AND 2011, MAJOR LINDSAY ATTENDED THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE AS A GRADUATE STUDENT, WHERE HE WON BOTH THE COLONEL JEFF PARKER AWARD AND THE INSTITUTE OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERS KINGSTON AWARD, FOR HIS WORK IN THE FIELD OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. HE IS CURRENTLY PURSUING A DOCTORATE IN THE FIELD OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND HOPES TO FINISH HIS THESIS IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

5. IN 2011 HE WAS POSTED TO THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION, AND HAS SERVED AT BOTH THE DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING AND INTEGRATION AND THE CANADIAN FORCES INTELLIGENCE COMMAND, IN THE FIELD OF CYBERSECURITY. HIS LAST POSITION WAS THE CHIEF ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER FOR ENDPOINT SECURITY.

6. MAJOR LINDSAY IS GRATEFUL FOR ALL THE FANTASTIC PEOPLE HE HAS WORKED WITH AND LED THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER. HE IS ALSO VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE ONGOING SUPPORT OF HIS FAMILY: HIS WIFE ERIN, HIS DAUGHTERS FREYA, THEODORA, AND TBD.

7. POST RETIREMENT, MAJOR LINDSAY WILL BE STAYING IN THE OTTAWA AREA AND WORKING IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR AS THE CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER FOR SYNERSOLUTIONS, AND FINALLY FINISHING HIS DOCTORATE.
