1. MAJOR R MONETTE WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 17 MAY 2018 AFTER 27 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
2. FROM LONGUEUIL, QC, MAJOR MONETTE JOINED THE CAF IN 1985 TO GRADUATE FIVE YEARS LATER FROM RMC, KINGSTON, WITH AN ENGINEERING DEGREE. HE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY PORTED TO OTTAWA AT D SECUR OPS AND D SIG EM AS THE ELECTRONIC WARFARE LCMM. HE WAS THEN POSTED TO FMC ST-HUBERT, QC, AS COMMS OFFICER FOR THE REVIEW OF COMMAND AND CONTROL INFORMATION SYSTEMS. BACK TO OTTAWA IN 1997, CAPT MONETTE ASSUMED THE DEPUTY PROJECT MANAGER DUTIES FOR THE AFCCIS PROJECT.
3. IN 1998, CAPT MONETTE LEFT THE FORCES TO WORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS. DURING THIS PERIOD, HE ALSO TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPLETE A MASTER DEGREE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT. HE RE ENROLLED IN THE CAF IN 2003 TO WORK AS THE DEPUTY PROJECT MANAGER AND SYSTEM ENGINEER ON THE MARINE SURVEILLANCE OPERATIONS CENTRE (MSOC) PROJECT. HE WAS THEN POSTED TO CDI IN 2006 AS THE COMMS OFFICER AND PROJECT MANAGER TO ESTABLISHED THE HUMINT UNIT JTFX. PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK IN 2008, MAJOR MONETTE REMAINED AT CDI WITH D INT IM AS OPS REQUIREMENT OFFICER.
4. FROM 2011 – 2015, MAJOR MONETTE JOIND CFIOG HQ AS DEPUTY PROJECT DIRECTOR FOR SPRINGTHAW. DURING THIS TIME, HE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEPLOY TO SOUTH SUDAN FOR SIX MONTHS. UPON HIS RETURN, HE WAS POSTED TO LEITRIM AS OPS O. HE THEN ESTABLISHED AND TOOK COMMAND OF THE NEW 5 SQUADRON.
5. MAJOR MONETTE AND HIS SPOUSE WILL REMAIN IN THE OTTAWA AREA TO ENJOY THEIR POOL AND BACKYARD AND OF COURSE, START HIS NEW CIVY EMPLOYMENT WITHIN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF CANADA.
