RETIREMENT – MAJOR D. WILLIAMS, CD, 00341 – SIGS

  1. ON 6 JUNE 2023, MAJ D. WILLIAMS WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CAF AFTER OVER 36 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

 

2. MAJ WILLIAMS ENROLLED IN THE CAF IN JAN 1987. UPON COMPLETION OF BASIC TRAINING AND TRADES TRAINING DARRELL WAS POSTED TO 1CDHSR. AS THE LTACS EXPERT DARRELL WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO WORK WITH THE MANUFACTURER ON RADIO SYSTEM UPGRADES AS WELL AS PARTICIPATE IN RV88 AND RV 89. DARRELL WAS LATER POSTED TO BORDEN AND THEN PETAWAWA TO RUN THE BASE TELECOMUNICATIONS SWITCH. IN 2000 DARRELL WAS POSTED TO KINGSTON TO ATTEND RMC AS A MEMBER OF OTTER SQUADRON. AFTER GRADUATION IN 2002 DARRELL WAS POSTED TO JOG HQ TO WORK ON SIGNALS PLANNING FOR OP HALO IN HAITI. DARRELL WAS THEN POSTED TO JSR AS TMO, DPLANS, AND TRG O. IN 2005 DARRELL DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN FOR PRT ACTIVATION, WHERE HE WAS INVOLVED IN A VBIED ATTACK. DARRELL’S NEXT POSTING TO CFSCE, IN KINGSTON, WHERE HE FULFILLED VARIOUS ROLES IN TRAINING, PLANS, AND STANDARDS AND WAS THE SCHOOL ADJT. DARRELL WAS THEN POSTED TO 21 EW REGT AS ADJT, THEN COMPLETED TECH STAFF COURSE AND WAS THE REQUIREMENTS OFFICER FOR CAF EW.

 

3. MAJ WILLIAMS IS HUSBAND TO DEBRA, FATHER TO BRANDON, GREG, AND CAMERON, AND COMPANION TO RUFF AND REMY. DARRELL WILL REMAIN IN OTTAWA WHERE HE WILL CONTINUE TO BE AN ADVOCATE FOR CHARITY, HONESTY, AND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IS CONSIDERING ENTERING INTO CONSULTING AND POLITICS.

 

4. HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK HIS FRIENDS, PEERS, AND CO-WORKERS FOR THEIR YEARS OF SUPPORT AND COMRADERIE.
