  1. AFTER MORE THAN 26 YEARS OF GOOD AND LOYAL SERVICE, MASTER WARRANT OFFICER (CWO) D. LABRANCHE WILL RETIRE FROM THE ROYAL CANADIAN SIGNALS CORPS AND THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON MAY 26, 2023.

 

  1. MWO LABRANCHE ENLISTED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN MARCH 1987 AS A RADIO TECHNICIAN (221).

AFTER COMPLETING HIS INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING AT CFLRS AND CFLS SAINT-JEAN SUR RICHELIEU, HE HEADED TO CFSCE IN KINGSTON TO COMPLETE HIS QUALIFICATION AS A RADIO TECHNICIAN. HIS FIRST ASSIGNMENT WAS TO THE 1st CVS BATTALION, 2nd CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP (1st BSVC 2nd CMBG) IN PETAWAWA FROM MARCH TO NOVEMBER 1988. AFTER A COURSE STAY IN PETAWAWA, HE WAS POSTED TO LEITRIM FROM NOVEMBER 1988 TO JULY 1990.

PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF CORPORAL, HE WAS ASSIGNED TO THE 5TH SERVICE BATTALION IN VALCARTIER FROM JULY 1990 TO MARCH 1997. DURING THIS PERIOD, HE WAS DEPLOYED ON OP CAVALIER IN 1993 AND ON OP DANACA IN 1994.

HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF CPLC IN JULY 1996. IN MARCH 1997, DANIEL DECIDED TO LEAVE THE CAF AFTER 10 YEARS OF LOYAL SERVICE.

IN MARCH 2007, HE RETURNED AGAIN TO THE CAF AS A SICT TECHNICIAN AFTER 10 YEARS OF ABSENCE. HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE 5th LIGHT ARTILLERY REGIMENT OF CANADA IN VALCARTIER FOR A PERIOD OF 2 YEARS. HE WAS THEN TRANSFERRED TO HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUADRON OF THE 5TH CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP UNTIL NOVEMBER 2010, THEN TRANSFERRED TO 2ND CANADIAN DIVISION SUPPORT BASE VALCARTIER. HE WILL LEAVE AS A TASK ON OP ATTENTION ROTO 0 AFGHANISTAN FROM NOVEMBER 2011 TO FEBRUARY 2012. IN JULY 2012, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE 2ND BATTALION ROYAL 22ND REGIMENT IN VALCARTIER.

PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT IN OCTOBER 2013, HE WILL REMAIN IN VALCARTIER UNTIL JULY 2015 THEN WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATIONS IN KINGSTON TO THE STANDARDS SECTION.

HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WARRANT OFFICER IN JULY 2016. THEN HE WILL CHANGE ASSIGNMENT AS COORDINATOR AT THE SCHOOL’S PON BTL IN JULY 2017.

IN JULY 2018, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE 202ND WORKSHOP DEPOT AT BASE LONGUE-POINTE AS A UNIT OSSI. IN AUGUST 2020, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO TASK FORCE MONTREAL HEADQUARTERS AS CENOPS WARRANT OFFICER.

IN MARCH 2022, HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE CURRENT RANK OF MWO AND WILL BE TRANSFERRED IN JULY 2022 TO HEADQUARTERS OF THE 2ND DIVISION OF CANADA WITHIN THE G6 CELL AS FOREMAN OF SIGNALS UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT ON MAY 26, 2023.

 

  1. MWO LABRANCHE PLANS TO RETIRE IN HIS HOME AREA IN THETFORD MINES.
