MWO HAMMOND RETIRED ON 13 SEPTEMBER 2023, AFTER 23 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CAF, C&E BRANCH, THE LINE TECH TRADE, AND CANSOFCOM.

 

HE ENROLLED IN THE CAF AS A LINE TECH IN APRIL 2000 AT CFRC ST JOHN’S, NF AND WAS ACCPTED FOR ENTRY INTO THE CAF AS A LINE TECH.

 

MWO HAMMOND GATHERED EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN HIS TRADE, THROUGH NUMEROUS POSTINGS IN HIS MILITARY CAREER. HIS FIRST POSTING WAS TO GAGETOWN, NB, WHERE HE SPENT SOME TIME AT 3 ASG AND 2 RCR. AFTER NEW BRUNSWICK, HE WAS POSTED TO 2 HQ&SIGS, PETAWAWA.  AFTER PETAWAWA, HE SPENT A MAJORITY OF HIS CAREER IN KINGSTON, AT SSU KINGSTON, CFJSR, AND 77 LINE REGT.  HIS FINAL MOVE WAS TO OTTAWA, WHERE HE WAS POSTED TO 77 LINE REGT (2 LINE SQN – OTTAWA), AND CANSOFCOM.  HE RETIRED AS THE LINE CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT OF CANSOFCOM.

 

MWO HAMMOND ALWAYS ANSWERED THE CALL AND FREQUENTLY DEPLOYED. DOMESTICALLY, HE LED COUNTLESS LINE CREWS ON VARIOUS LINE INSTALLATION PROJECTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY AS A PROJECT FOREMAN. HE COMPLETED 4 TOUR DEPLOYMENTS:  ISRAEL, 2002, AFGHANISTAN, 2007, IRAQ, 2015, AND LATVIA, 2021.  HE ALSO HAD 2 TAV DEPLOYMENTS TO LATVIA, WHERE HE LOST AS MUCH MONEY AS HE MADE, DUE TO HIS POOR BETTING DECISIONS.

 

MWO HAMMOND WILL REMAIN IN THE NCR AND HAS ACCEPTED AN INDETERMINATE APPOINTMENT TO THE POSITION OF ELECTONICS SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN, AT ADM (IM) – DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT PROJECT DELIVERY (DGIMPD).
