  1. AFTER MORE THAN 32 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, MASTER WARRANT OFFICER (MASTER GUNNER) B. PRONOVOST HAS RETIRED FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, THE CANADIAN ARMY, THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS AND THE LINE OCCUPATION ON 26 MARCH 2023.

2. MASTER WARRANT OFFICER (MASTER GUNNER) PRONOVOST ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON THE 7TH OF FEBRUARY 1991 IN THE RESERVE AT THE 713E RÉGIMENT DES COMMUNICATIONS – BEAUPORT AS A RADIO AND TELETYPE OPERATOR (RTOP). IN APRIL 1996, HE IS APPROVED FOR A VOLUNTARY OCCUPATIONAL TRANSFER (VOT) AS LINEMAN. ON THE 15TH OF SEPTEMBER 1997, HE TRANSFERRED TO THE REGULAR FORCES JOINING THE CREW OF 702 COMMUNICATION SQUADRON PETAWAWA.

DURING HIS YEARS OF SERVICES, HE HAS SERVED WITH 713E RÉGIMENT DES COMMUNICATIONS – BEAUPORT (1991-1997), 702 COMMUNICATION SQUADRON – PETAWAWA, 79 COMMUNICATION REGIMENT AND CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT (CFJSR) DETACHMENT PETAWAWA (1997-2003), CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT (CFJSR) DETACHMENT EDMONTON (2003-2008), 19 WING COMOX – WING TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SERVICES SQUADRON (2008-2009), CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE), KINGSTON (2009-2012), QUARTIER GÉNÉRAL ET ESCADRON DES TRANSMISSIONS 5E GROUPE-BRIGADE MÉCANISÉ DU CANADA (QGET 5 GBMC), VALCARTIER (2012-2015), ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE (RMC), KINGSTON (2015-2016), DIRECTOR PERSONNEL GENERATING REQUIREMENT (DPGR), OTTAWA (2016-2017), DIRECTOR GENERAL MAJOR PROJECT DELIVERY (AIR AND LAND) (DGMPD (A & L)) IN OTTAWA (2017-2019), 5 CANADIAN DIVISION SUPPORT GROUP SIGNAL SQUADRON (5 CDSG SIG SQN), GAGETOWN (2019-2021) AND LASTLY WITH QUARTIER GÉNÉRAL ET ESCADRON DES TRANSMISSIONS 5E GROUPE-BRIGADE MÉCANISÉ DU CANADA (QGET 5 GBMC), VALCARTIER (2021-2023).

MWO (MR GNR) PRONOVOST HAS PARTICIPATED IN SEVERAL OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS ABROAD AND IN CANADA. FIRST, WITH THE UNITED NATIONS PROTECTION FORCES AND PEACE FORCES (UNPROFOR & UNPF) IN EX-YUGOSLAVIA WITH THE NATIONAL COMMAND AND CONTROL INFORMATION SYSTEM (NCCIS) SQUADRON IN 1995. HE WORKED WITH BELL CANADA IN THE OTTAWA AREA AND WITH HYDRO-QUÉBEC IN THE MONTÉRÉ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– LINE PLANNING GUIDANCE, WHICH BECAME AN OFFICIAL DOCTRINE MANUAL IN JANUARY 2021 BY THE COMBAT TRAINING CENTRE (CTC). HE WAS AWARDED A JOINT COMMAND COMMENDATION FROM COMMANDANTS OF THE AFGHAN SIGNALS SCHOOL AND THE SIGNALS THEATRE ADVISORY TEAM (SIGS TAT) FOR HIS INITIATIVES TOWARD HIS AFGHANS PEERS.

THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, HE HAS BEEN EMPLOYED IN A VARIETY OF POSITIONS TO INCLUDE STRATEGIC AND TACTICAL LINE CREW/DET MEMBER, LINE PROJECT SECOND-IN-CHARGE (2I/C) AND IN-CHARGE (IC), LINE STANDARD, LINE COURSE DIRECTOR, TACTICAL AND STRATEGIC LINE SECTION COMMANDER, TACTICAL LINE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN AND LINE SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT (SME) INTO THE OCCUPATIONAL ACISS STUDY.  HE WAS ALSO ADVISOR, COORDINATOR AND TECHNICAL AUTHORITY FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THE LCSS COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS OF THE MILITARY MODEL MEDIUM SUPPORT VEHICLE SYSTEM (MSVS) PROJECT AS WELL AS SERGEANT-MAJOR OF THE LATTER. SQUADRON SERGEANT-MAJOR (SSM) OF 5 CDSG SIG SQN AND LASTLY AS TRAINING SERGEANT-MAJOR (TSM) AND HEADQUARTERS SERGEANT-MAJOR (HQ SM) OF 5 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP.

HE HOLDS A DIPLÔME D’ÉTUDES COLLÉGIALES EN ÉLECTRONIQUE – TELECOMMUNICATION FROM COLLÈGE DE LIMOILOU, QC (1993) AND A BACHELOR’S OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION FROM TÉLÉ-UNIVERSITÉ DU QUÉBEC (TÉLUQ) (2012). FURTHERMORE, MWO (MR GNR) PRONOVOST IS A GRADUATE OF THE ARMY TECHNICAL WARRANT OFFICER (ATWO) PROGRAMME AT THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE (RMC) KINGSTON, EARNING THE TITLE OF MASTER GUNNER (2016) AND FINALLY, HE COMPLETED A MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) (2019).

3. HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE AMAZING PEOPLE HE HAS HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET, SERVE AND WORK WITH DURING HIS TIME IN UNIFORM. HE HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION WITHIN THE PUBLIC SERVICE WHERE HE PLANS TO WORK UNTIL HE DECIDES TO TAKE A DEFINITIVE RETIREMENT.

4. MWO (MR GNR) PRONOVOST HAS REQUESTED TO HAVE AN OFFICIAL DEPART WITH DIGNITY (DWD) ON FRIDAY AUGUST 4TH. HIS LAST DAY OF SERVICE WAS ON 26TH OF MARCH 2023.
