1. MCPL ANTHONY (TONY) OLIVER WILL BE RETIRING 22 APRIL 2020 AFTER 17 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE BRITISH MILITARY AND 10 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CAF.

2. MCPL OLIVER’S MILITARY CAREER STARTED WITH THE BRITISH MILITARY, THAT HE JOINED AS A BOY SOLDIER AT THE AGE OF 16 IN 1976 AND SERVED UNTIL 1993. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS TRAINING HE SERVED WITH THE ARMY CATERING CORP WHERE HE WOULD MEET HIS FUTURE WIFE TRACEY, WHO WAS ALSO SERVING WITH THE UNIT. HE WAS DEPLOYED TO THE ASCENSION ISLANDS AS A PART OF THE FALKLANDS TASK FORCE, TO NORTHERN IRELAND AT A PERMANENT VEHICLE CHECKPOINT, AND TO IRAQ AND KUWAIT DURING THE FIRST GULF WAR. HE IMMIGRATED TO CANADA IN OCT 2000 WITH HIS WIFE TRACEY AND THREE CHILDREN. MISSING THE MILITARY ENVIRONMENT, HE ENROLED IN THE CAF 13 OCT 2009 AS AN ATIS TECH. ONCE HIS TRAINING WAS COMPLETE, HE WAS POSTED TO COLD LAKE, WHERE HE HAS DEPLOYED ON OP IMPACT (KUWAIT) AND MANY TEMPORARY DUTIES TO MIRAMAR IN SUPPORT OF THE TRAINING OF FUTURE FIGHTER PILOTS. HE WAS AWARDED HIS CD WITH 1ST CLASP FOR HIS COMBINED 27 YEARS OF SERVICE TO QUEEN AND COUNTRY.

3. MCPL OLIVER WILL BE RETIRING TO NACKAWIC, NB, WHERE HIS SPOUSE TRACEY HAS ALREADY SET UP RESIDENCE IN ANTICIPATION OF TONY’S RETIREMENT. OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH TRACEY, WHO WILL HAVE THE LABOUR-INTENSIVE TASK TO CONVINCE TONY TO FINALLY SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY RETIREMENT. TONY AND TRACEY HAVE PLANS TO CONTINUE THEIR TRAVELS, EXPLORING THE MANY CORNERS OF THE WORLD, TAKE UP GARDENING AND CONTINUE THE NEVER-ENDING HOME IMPROVEMENTS OF THEIR RETIREMENT HOMESTEAD.

4. A GATHERING WILL BE HELD TO CELEBRATE MCPL OLIVER’S SERVICE TO THE CAF ON A TIME/DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.
