1. BRIGADIER-GENERAL DENIS BOUCHER WAS RAISED IN A MILITARY FAMILY AND ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN FORCES IN 1988, ATTENDING THE COLLÈGE MILITAIRE ROYAL (CMR) DE SAINT-JEAN, BEFORE GRADUATING IN 1993 AS A SIGNALS OFFICER.HE HAS COMMANDED AT ALL LEVELS FROM TROOP TO FORMATION, WITH POSITIONS IN 2 (ELECTRONIC WARFARE) SQUADRON OF 1 CDHSR, 1 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT (1 CER), AS WELL AS SUB-UNIT AND UNIT COMMAND OF THE CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT BEFORE FINALLY COMMANDING 7 COMMUNICATION GROUP.HIS STAFF APPOINTMENTS HAVE INCLUDED SEVERAL POSITIONS IN THE DIRECTORATE OF LAND REQUIREMENTS OF THE CANADIAN ARMY, AS THE DIRECTOR OF LAND COMMAND SYSTEMS PROGRAM MANAGEMENT WITH ADM (MATERIEL), DIRECTOR CAPABILITIES INTEGRATION WITHIN THE CHIEF OF FORCE DEVELOPMENT, AND WITH DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OPERATIONS.

2. BRIGADIER-GENERAL BOUCHER’S OPERATIONAL EXPERIENCE INCLUDE THE DOMESTIC OPERATIONS ASSISTANCE AND RECUPERATION AS WELL AS EXPEDITIONARY OPERATIONS IN THE FORMER REPUBLIC OF YUGOSLAVIA AND TWO TOURS IN AFGHANISTAN.HE IS A GRADUATE OF THE LAND FORCE TECHNICAL STAFF PROGRAM, THE CANADIAN LAND FORCES COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE, KINGSTON, THE JOINT COMMAND AND STAFF PROGRAM OF CANADIAN FORCES COLLEGE, AND THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF DEFENCE STUDIES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM. HE HOLDS A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN SPACE OPERATIONS FROM COLLÈGE MILITAIRE ROYAL DE SAINT-JEAN, A MASTER’S DEGREE IN APPLIED MILITARY SCIENCE MANAGEMENT AND A MASTERS IN DEFENCE STUDIES FROM THE ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE OF CANADA.BRIGADIER-GENERAL BOUCHER WAS APPOINTED AN OFFICER OF THE ORDER OF MILITARY MERIT IN 2019. HE IS THE RECIPIENT OF THE UNITED STATES BRONZE STAR MEDAL FOR MERIT, A CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE STAFF COMMENDATION AND A CANADIAN ARMY COMMANDER’S COMMENDATION.

3. HE WAS PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK IN 2022 AND APPOINTED DIRECTOR GENERAL DEFENCE SECURITY AND CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF NATIONAL DEFENCE.HE AND HIS SPOUSE HAVE THREE GROWN CHILDREN, WHO HAVE ALL JOINED THE FAMILY BUSINESS: ONE IS A MEMBER OF THE FEDERAL PUBLIC SERVICE, ONE IS A SIGNALS OFFICER, AND ONE IS AN INFANTRY SOLDIER WITH THE R22ER.A DEPART WITH DIGNITY TO COMMEMORATE BRIGADIER-GENERAL BOUCHER’S 36-YEAR CAREER WILL BE HELD ON 13 JUNE 2024 AT 1300 HOURS AT THE NCR OFFICER’S MESS, 149 SOMERSET ST W, OTTAWA, ONTARIO, K2P 0H7.
