1.SGT MERLO NAULT WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 10 MAI 2024 AFTER 14 YEARS OF DEDICATED, DISTINGUISHED, AND LOYAL SERVICE TO THE C&E BRANCH, THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS, CANADA, AND THE CROWN.

2.SGT. MERLO NAULT ENLISTED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON FEBRUARY 17, 2010, AT THE AGE OF 17, AS A RADIO OPERATOR (SIG OP). AFTER COMPLETING HIS DP.1, HE WAS POSTED TO THE TRANSMISSION QUATIER GENERAL AND ESCADRON (QGET) OF THE 5TH CANADIAN MECHANICAL BRIGADE GROUP (5GMBC) IN VALCARTIER, QUÉBEC, WHERE HE WAS ASSIGNED AS A CMDT DRIVER OF THE ALPHA TP. AFTER ONLY 9 MONTHS, HE WAS POSTED TO THE 1st BATTALION, ROYAL 22E RÉGIMENT    (1 R22eR), IN THE COMMAND COMPANY AS A RADIO OPERATOR AND RRB OPERATOR. HIS CAREER PATH LED HIM TO C COY, 1 R22eR, AS C COY PRONTO, WHERE HE GAINED ALL HIS FIELD EXPERIENCE. IN 2014 HE WAS PROMOTED TO CORPORAL AND PARTICIPATED IN NUMEROUS EXERCISES ACROSS CANADA, ESPECIALLY IN NORTHERN CANADA, AS HF, VHF AND UHF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST. IN 2016, HE DEPLOYED FOR HIS FIRST TIME IN POLAND ON OPERATION REASSURANCE ROTO 5 AND WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF MASTER CORPORAL.

3.IN AUGUST 2016, UPON HIS RETURN FROM DEPLOYMENT, HE WAS POSTED TO THE 5 COMBAT ENGINEER REGIMENT (5 CER), AS PRONTO OF THE 52 FIELD ENGINEERS SQUADRON HIS CAREER WITHIN THE 5 CER LED HIM TO THE POSITION OF CRYPTO CUSTODIAN AND THEN, IN SEPTEMBER 2021, HE WAS DEPLOYED TO SECOND TIME TO UKRAINE ON OPERATION UNIFIER ROTO 12. AFTER 5 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE 5 CER, IN JULY 2022, HE WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT (CFJSR), KINGSTON, ONTARIO, WHERE HE WAS ASSIGNED TO FOXTROT TROOP. AFTER COMPLETING NCCIS TRAINING, HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO ECHO TROOP AS PART OF THE HIGH READINESS TEAM. HE WAS PROMOTED TO SERGEANT IN MAY 2023 AND DEPLOYED FOR THE THIRD TIME TO LATVIA IN JUNE 2023 ON OPERATION REASSURANCE ROTO 23-02 AS NRL SGT. HE FINISHED HIS CAREER WITH DELTA TROOP.

3.SGT MERLO NAULT WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THE SOLDIERS, SAILORS, AND AVIATORS WITH WHOM HE’S BEEN FORTUNATE TO SERVE. THE MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE, GOOD FRIENDS, AMAZING SIGNALLERS AND GREAT EXPERIENCES WILL BE FONDLY REMEMBERED. UPON HIS RELEASE, HE WILL RETURN TO HIS CLOSE FAMILY IN SOREL-TRACY, WHERE HE WILL HAVE A STABLE LIFE AND EMPLOYMENT.
