RETIREMENT – MWO JOHN ROSS, CD – 00385 SIG TECH

  1. AFTER 33 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE, MASTER WARRANT OFFICER JOHN ROSS WILL TAKE HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT AND THE SIG-TECH TRADE ON 13 OCTOBER 2021.
  2. MWO J.C. ROSS ENROLLED IN THE CAF ON 10 FEBURARY 1988 FROM TORONTO, ONTARIO AS AN ARTILLERYMAN WITH 2 RCHA. HE WAS DEPLOYED ON A UN MISSION IN CYPRUS, THE FINAL MISSION ROTATION IN 1993. IN 1994 MWO ROSS MADE THE DECISION TO EXPAND HIS COMBAT ARMS KNOWLEDGE AND COMPLETED AN OCCUPATIONAL TRANSFER TO THE INFANTRY TRADE WHICH SAW HIM POSTED TO 1ST BATTALION PRINCESS PATRICIA’S CANADIAN LIGHT INFANTRY (PPCLI) IN CALGARY. THE TRANSFORMATION OF BASES OF THE 1990s HAD HIM MOVE TO EDMONTON IN 1998 BUT NOT BEFORE COMPLETING A NATO TOUR TO BOSNIA IN 1997. IN 1999, HE PARTICIPATED IN THE INITIAL DEPLOYMENT TO KOSOVO ON A ROTO ZERO. PROMOTED TO SGT IN 2001 HE WOULD REMAIN IN THE INFANTRY FOR ANOTHER YEAR BEFORE MOVING ON TO A 3RD TRADE.
  3. IN 2003 MWO ROSS SUBMITTED A VOLUNTARY OCCUPATIONAL TRANSFER AND WAS POSTED TO CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE) TO EMBARK ON HIS PERFORMANCE ORIENTED ELECTRONICS TRAINING (POET) AND LATER THE LAND COMMUNICATIONS INFORMATION SYSTEMS (LCIS) TECHNICIAN COURSE. UPON COMPETITION OF HIS TRADES TRAINING HE WAS POSTED TO 21 ELECTRONIC WARFARE REGIMENT UNTIL 2011 WHERE HE COMPLETED A TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE VISITS AND A ROTATION TO AFGANISTAN IN 2007. IN 2011 HE WAS PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF SGT AND WAS POSTED TO CFSCE AS A COURSE DIRECTOR. IN 2015 HE WAS PROMOTED TO WO AND OCCUPIED A TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE WARRANT OFFICER POSITION WITH THE CFSCE. IN 2016, TIME IN KINGSTON HAD COME TO AN END WITH A POSTING TO DIRECTOR GENERAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICE IN OTTAWA. AFTER 2 YEARS IN OTTAWA A LOCAL POSTING TO DGLEPM SAW MWO ROSS WORKING IN PROJECTS AND PROMOTED TO HIS CURRENT RANK IN 2018. HIS LAST MOVE HAD HIM BACK IN KINGSTON TO WHAT WOULD BE HIS FINAL ROLE AS THE FOREMAN OF SIGNALS IN THE CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNALS REGIMENT.
  4. AFTER HIS RELEASE MWO ROSS WILL REMAIN IN THE KINGSTON AREA WHERE HE HAS ACCEPTED A POSITION FROM THE PUBLIC SERVICE WITH CDAHQ. HE IS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEW CHALLENGES AHEAD.
  5. HE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WHO HE HAS SERVED WITH AND THE CLOSE FRIENDS AND ESPECIALLY HIS FAMILY WHO HAVE PROVIDED MUCH NEEDED SUPPORT OVER THE MANY YEARS OF SERVICE.
