1. PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS MATTHEW (MATT) PARKER WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 7 SEPTEMBER 2020 AFTER 15+ YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. MATT ENROLLED IN THE CAF ON 7 DECEMBER 2004 AS A RESERVE BOATSWAIN IN WINDSOR ONTARIO WITH HMCS HUNTER. FROM 2005 TO 2008, MATT TOOK CLASS B CONTRACTS IN CFB ESQUIMALT AND SERVED WITH HMCS YELLOWKNIFE, IN PORT SECURITY, AND HMCS SASKATOON. IN 2008, MATT EFFECTED A TRADE AND COMPONENT TRANSFER, RE-MUSTERING TO COMMS RSCH. WHILE AWAITING TRAINING, MATT WAS SENT BACK TO CFB ESQUIMALT TO SERVE IN THE PORT SECURITY SECTION. AFTER COMPLETING HIS COMMS RSCH APPRENTICESHIP TRG, MATT WAS POSTED TO CFS LEITRIM. AFTER A FEW YEARS ON SHIFT, MATT PROCEEDED TO CJOC AS PART OF THE CFS LEITRIM DETACHMENT TO CFICC. IN 2014, MATT DEPLOYED ON HMCS REGINA, ON BOTH OP ARTEMIS AND OP ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR. UPON HIS RETURN, MATT CONTINUED SERVING IN CFS LEITRIM, EVENTUALLY BEING CHOSEN TO STANDUP AND LEAD CFS LEITRIM’S DETACHMENT TO THE JTIC. DURING HIS 15+ YEARS OF SERVICE MATT SERVED AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS: CFS LEITRIM (X2), CFB ESQUIMALT (X2).

3. MATT AND HIS SPOUSE SHANNON, ALONG WITH THEIR SON DECLAN, WILL REMAIN IN THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION WHERE HE HAS SECURED EMPLOYMENT WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
