1. SERGEANT ASHLEIGH HOMMERSEN WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 14 OCTOBER 2020 AFTER 19 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA.

2. ASHLEIGH ENROLLED IN 2001 AS A PRES INFANTEER WITH THE ROYAL HAMILTON LIGHT INFANTRY AND IN 2005 SHE TRANSFERRED TO THE REG FORCE AS AN LCIS TECH. AFTER COMPLETING LCIS TRADE TRAINING, SHE WAS POSTED TO CFSCE UNTIL 2011. IN 2011 SHE WAS POSTED TO CFJSR WHERE SHE WAS EMPLOYED AS A LIGHT AND HEAVY DET TECHNICIAN, LATER DEPLOYING TO AFGHANISTAN ON OP ATTENTION 2013/2014. IN 2015 SHE WAS POSTED TO 2 PPCLI AND SERVED AS THE SIG PL TECH SGT. ASHLEIGH WAS PROMOTED TO HER CURRENT RANK IN 2016.

3. ASHLEIGH WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF THOSE WITH WHOM SHE SERVED, AND IS THANKFUL FOR THE LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS DEVELOPED OVER HER 19 YEARS IN UNIFORM.

4. UPON RETIREMENT, ASHLEIGH WILL SETTLE IN CARBERRY MB WITH HER 2 CHILDREN MATTHEUS AND OLLIE AS WELL AS HER SPOUSE DUSTIN MITCHELL AND HIS 3 CHILDREN. ASHLEIGH HAS PLANS TO WORK ON HER STAINED GLASS HOBBY WHILE SPINNING VINYL AND GARDENING.
