1. SERGEANT DARRYL RANGER WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, 15 JULY 2019 AFTER 20 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
2. DARRYL ENROLLED IN THE CAF AT HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA IN 1999 AND PROCEEDED TO CANADIAN FORCES LEADERSHIP AND RECRUIT SCHOOL (CFLRS) IN SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUEBEC FOR HIS BASIC TRAINING. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS BASIC TRAINING, DARRYL MOVED ONTO THE ROYAL CANADIAN ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS (RCEME) SCHOOL IN BORDEN, ONTARIO WHERE HE SPENT THE NEXT YEAR DEVELOPING HIS SKILLS AS A VEHICLE TECHNICIAN. UPON ATTAINING HIS RCEME QUALIFICATION HE WAS POSTED TO CANADIAN FORCES BASE (CFB) GREEENWOOD FOR HIS FIRST POSTING AND HIS FIRST TASTE OF THE AIR FORCE WAY OF LIFE. HE RECEIVED A NEW ADDITION TO HIS FAMILY, HIS DAUGHTER, WHO WAS BORN DEC 2000 AND SOON BECAME DADDYS GIRL. HE WAS ADVANCED PROMOTED TO ACTING LACKING CORPORAL IN JUL 2000 AND HE SPEND THE NEXT FOUR YEARS HONING HIS SKILLS AS A VEH TECH WITH B-FLT EME. IN SEP 2004 HE DEPLOYED AS PART OF THE UN TASK FORCE OP DANACA IN THE SUNNY GOLAN. IN SEP 2006 DARRYL DECIDED HE NEEDED A CHANGE SO HE GAVE UP THE RCEME CAP BADGE FOR THE C&E BRANCH WITH THE ‘JIMMY’ BADGE AND HIS GREEN BERET FOR THE BLUE WEDGE. HE COMPLETED HIS TRADE TRAINING AS AN AIR TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (ATIS) IN DEC 2007 AND WAS POSTED TO CFB NORTH BAY AS AN ATIS TECH. HE SPENT THE NEXT 4 YEARS HONING HIS TECHNICAL SKILLS IN THE COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS ENVIRONMENT. IN MAR OF 2012 HE WAS PROMOTED TO MCPL AND TOOK A POSTING TO CFB 9 WING GANDER JOINING THE WTIS ORGANIZATION. RECOGNIZED FOR HIS PUBLIC BROADCAST EXCHANGE (PBX) SKILLS WITH VOICE SERVICES, HE WAS GIVEN A POSITION CHANGE AND FELL UNDER THE COMMAND OF 77 LINE REGIMENT HALIFAX DETACHMENT TO PROVIDE VOICE SERVICES TO 9 WING. HE WAS POSTED TO CFS LEITRIM DETACHMENT GANDER IN JUL 2018 AND PROMOTED TO ACTING LACKING SERGEANT IN DEC 2018.
3. DARRYL AND HIS WIFE MICHELLE PLAN TO REMAIN IN THE LOCAL AREA WITH THEIR FAMILY TO ENJOY THE WINTERS SKI-DOOING AND THE SUMMERS BIKING AND CAMPING. DARRYL IS AN AVID MUSICIAN AND PLAYS FOR CHARITY EVENTS AROUND THE LOCAL AREA. UPON HIS RETIREMENT DARRYL WILL BE TAKING THE POSITION OFFERED BY SSU ATLANTIC HQ AND FILL THE VACANT PBX POSITION AT 9WING PROVIDING VOICES SERVICES TO THE WING AND ITS LODGER UNITS.
4. DARRYL DOES NOT WISH A DEPART WITH DIGINITY LUNCHEON BUT WILL HOST A BBQ AT HIS HOUSE (10 HORNELL ST, GANDER, NL) BY HIS REQUEST, ON SATURDAY 20 JUL 2019 COMMENCING AT 1400 HRS.
