1. WO K.L. SNYDER WILL BE RETIRING FROM THE CAF ON THE 1 MAR 2019 WITH 30 PLUS YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO CANADA, THE CAF, AND THE ROYAL CANADIAN CORPS OF SIGNALS AS A LINEMAN.
2. WO SNYDER ENROLLED IN THE COMMUNICATION RESERVES WITH 721 COMM REGT IN CHARLOTTETOWN PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND IN 1985 STARTING HIS CAREER AS A LINEMAN. HE WENT TO RV 87 AND RV 89 AS WELL AS VARIOUS CALLOUTS AROUND THE MARITIME AREA. IN 1990 HE TRANSFERRED TO 723 COMM SQN IN HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA. IN 1991 UPON COMPLETING AN ELECTRICAL CERTIFICATE AT HOLLAND COLLEGE, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND HE DIPPED HIS FEET INTO THE CIVILIAN WORK WORLD, RETIRED FROM THE COMMUNICATION RESERVES AND MOVED TO VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA.
AFTER 2 YEARS OF PAYING UNION DUES IN ORDER TO WORK, HE JOINED THE REGULAR FORCE IN 1994. AFTER BASIC TRAINING IN CORNWALLIS NOVA SCOTIA, IT WAS QUICKLY OFF TO BATTLE SCHOOL IN WAINWRIGHT ALBERTA TO COMPLETE HIS BASIC INFANTRY COURSE AS A MEMBER OF THE PRINCESS PATRICIA’S CANADIAN LIGHT INFANTRY (PPCLI). AFTER COMPLETION HE WAS POSTED TO 2 PPCLI IN WINNIPEG MANITOBA AS PART OF ALPHA COMPANY. IN 1996 HE WAS POSTED TO 3 PPCLI, IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA AND QUICKLY FOUND OUT WHAT THE TERM LIGHT INFANTRY TRULY MEANT. IN 1997 HE COMPLETED A TOUR OF BOSNIA WITH THE STRATHCONA LED BATTLE GROUP AS PART OF OP PALLADIUM. IN 1999 HE COMPLETED THE VOLUNTARY OCCUPATIONAL TRANSFER PROGRAM BACK INTO THE LINE TRADE AFTER REALIZING THAT IF HE WAS TO RETIRE AS AN INFANTRYMAN ALL HE WAS QUALIFIED TO BE WAS A COMMISSIONAIRE. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS QL 3 AT CANADIAN FORCES BASE KINGSTON, HE WAS POSTED TO 79 COMM REGT DET EDMONTON.
AFTER GOING BACK OVERSEAS TO BOSNIA AS PART OF PROJECT 48, THE FIBERIZATION OF THE CAMPS IN BOSNIA, HE SPENT THE REST OF HIS POSTING TOURING ALL OF WESTERN CANADA COMPLETING VARIOUS CABLE AND TOWER PROJECTS. PROMOTED TO MCPL HE WAS POSTED BACK TO CFB WINNIPEG IN 2004. WHILE THERE HE WENT BACK OVERSEAS TO AFGHANISTAN AND CAMP MIRAGE IN 2006 AND 2009, AS PART OF THE AIR EXPEDITIONARY UNIT. SGT SNYDER WAS PROMOTED AND POSTED TO KINGSTON ONTARIO AS PART OF 1 LINE SQN, AT THE CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT (CFJSR) IN 2010 AND WAS EMPLOYED THERE AS A PROJECT FOREMAN OF A HEAVY MAINTENANCE TOWER CREW. ALSO DURING THAT TIME HE WENT OVERSEAS AS PART OF 3 THEATRE ACTIVATION TEAMS (TAT) TO SPANGDALHEM, GERMANY FOR THE CLOSURE OF CAMP MIRAGE, ROMANIA AND LITHUANIA AS PART OF OP REASSURANCE AND THE UKRAINE AS PART OF OP UNIFIER. PROMOTED TO THE RANK OF WARRANT OFFICER IN 2016 HE STAYED AT 1 LINE SQN, CFJSR AS A PROJECT SUPERVISOR. IN LATE 2016 HE STARTED THE PROCESS OF GETTING READY FOR ANOTHER TAT THIS TIME AS THE CABLE LINE DESIGNER FOR OP REASSURANCE, EFP LATVIA. AFTER COMPLETING 3 MONTHS IN LATVIA IN THE SPRING OF 2017 HE RETURNED HOME AND WAS QUICKLY POSTED TO WHERE HE IS TODAY AS PART OF 77 LINE REGT, BUT WORKING DIRECTLY WITH SHARED SERVICES CANADA (SSC) AS A CABLE PLANT LINE DESIGNER AT TUNNEY’S PASTURE IN OTTAWA ONTARIO.
3. DURING HIS TIME IN THE MILITARY HE HAS MANAGED TO REMAIN MARRIED FOR 22 YEARS TO HIS WIFE AND HAVE 2 CHILDREN (NAMES REMOVED 2023 APRIL 20 BY ADMIN). WHO ARE ALL PROBABLY TIRED OF MOVING AND WISH FOR HIS RETIREMENT. WO SNYDER WILL BE RETIRING IN THE OTTAWA AREA AFTER ACCEPTING A PUBLIC SERVICE POSITION WITHIN DND.
