1. WARRANT OFFICER MICHAEL GAGNON, CD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 30 NOVEMBER 2020 AFTER MORE THAN 20 YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE REGULAR FORCES.

2. MICHAEL ENROLLED IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES IN APRIL 2000 AS AN AEROSPACE TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS TECHNICIAN (ATIS TECH). FOLLOWING HIS TRADES TRAINING AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE) KINGSTON, HE WAS POSTED TO CANADIAN FORCES BASE (CFB) BAGOTVILLE FOR EIGHT YEARS. AFTER COMPLETING HIS SECOND TOUR IN THE MIDDLE EAST, HE WAS POSTED TO THE CANADIAN FORCES NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTRE (CFNOC) FOR SEVEN YEARS. HIS FINAL POSTING HAS BEEN WITH THE COMMUNICATION SECURITY ESTABLISHMENT (CSE) IN 2017 AS A NETWORK ANALYST, WHERE HE REMUSTERED TO THE NEW CYBER OPERATOR TRADE IN 2019.

3. MICHAEL HAS COMPLETED TWO TOURS OF DUTY IN AFGHANISTAN (2005 AND 2009) AS AN ATIS TECH AND HAS PARTICIPATED IN MANY CYBER OPERATIONS AND EXERCISES, BOTH NATIONAL AND MULTINATIONAL. HE CONTRIBUTED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CAF’S CYBER MISSION THROUGHOUT HIS TIME AT CFNOC AND CSE.

4. MICHAEL WILL BE REMAINING IN THE OTTAWA AREA WITH HIS WIFE, MARIE-AUDRAY MORIN, AND THEIR TWO CHILDREN, LÉANNE AND MAHÉE. UPON RETIREMENT, HE WILL TRANSITION TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR.
