RETIREMENT – WO TIM MILLIGAN, CD – 00383 SIG OP

1. WARRANT OFFICER TIM MILLIGAN, CD WILL RETIRE ON 7 FEBRUARY 2022 AFTER 25+ YEARS OF SERVICE IN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES.

2. WO MILLIGAN FIRST JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 31 OCTOBER 1995 WITH THE PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND REGIMENT (PEIR) AS AN ARMOURED CREWMAN. HOWEVER, REALIZING PEOPLE WERE GOING TO YELL AT HIM, HE RELEASED. REVISITING THE SITUATION, HE SIGNED UP WITH THE REGULAR FORCE AS A RADIO OPERATOR ON 20 AUGUST 1996 AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER WAS OFF TO BASIC TRAINING. UPON COMPLETION OF HIS BASIC MILITARY QUALIFICATION AT CANADIAN FORCES LEADERSHIP AND RECRUIT SCHOOL (CFLRS) SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, PQ AND DRIVER TRAINING AT CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS (CFSAL) BORDEN, HE COMPLETED HIS TRADE QUALIFICATION AT CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE).

3. DESIGNATED A ‘RAD OP’ IN THE SPRING OF 1997, HE WAS POSTED TO 1 CANADIAN DIVISION HEADQUATERS AND SIGNAL REGIMENT (1 CDHSR) AND IMMEDIATELY DEPLOYED TO WINNIPEG ON OP ASSISTANCE, HIS FIRST DOMESTIC OPERATION IN A RELIEF EFFORT FOR THE RED RIVER FLOODS. HE WOULD ALSO GO ON TO SUPPORT CANADA AT HOME ON SUCH DOMESTIC OPERATIONS AS OP ASSURANCE (1998), OP ABACUS (1999-2000), OP GRIZZLY (2002) AND OP LENTIS/LASER (2020).

4. AS A RADIO OPERATOR IN AN EVER-CHANGING AND DIVERSE OCCUPATION, HE HAD THE PLEASURE TO WORK WITH AMAZING AND PROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL IN TOO MANY ROLES TO MENTION. FOLLOWING HIS POSTING TO ‘THE REGIMENT’, OTHER POSTINGS INCLUDED 2 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUADRON (2 CMBG HQ & SIG SQN), 3 ROYAL CANADIAN REGIMENT (3 RCR) IN PETAWAWA, ON, CANADIAN FORCES JOINT SIGNAL REGIMENT (CFJSR), 21 ELECTRONIC WARFARE REGIMENT (21 EW REGT) AND FINALLY BACK TO CFSCE IN 2020.

5. DURING HIS CAREER, HE DEPLOYED NINE TIMES INCLUDING OP DANACA, SYRIA (2000-2001), OP APOLLO, AFGHANISTAN (2002), OP ATHENA, AFGHANISTAN (2003 AND 2008-2009), OP HALO, HAITI (2004), OP ATTENTION, AFGHANISTAN (2011 AND 2013-2014), OP IMPACT, KUWAIT (2014) AND OP PROTEUS, ISRAEL (2016-2017).

6. TIM PLANS TO ATTEND ST LAWRENCE COLLEGE IN THE FALL WHILE ENJOYING HIS DOWN TIME WITH HIS PARTNER JACLYN AND CHILDREN ALEIGHA, CALEB AND CHARLIE. TIM WISHES TO THANK HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS AS WELL AS THE MANY LEADERS, PEERS AND SUBORDINATES HE HAS MET THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER.
