RETIREMENT – MASTER WARRANT OFFICER DAREN M. LOCKWOOD, CD – 00383 SIG OP

  1. AFTER MORE THAN 37 + YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE QUEEN, KING, COUNTRY AND CORPS, MASTER WARRANT OFFICER DAREN MICHAEL LOCKWOOD WILL RETIRE FROM THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES ON 31 JULY 2024. DAREN JOINED THE CANADIAN ARMY RESERVE IN DECEMBER 1985 AND RELEASED IN NOVEMBER 1986. AFTER SOME THOUGHT ABOUT LIFE GOALS, DAREN ENROLLED AGAIN IN THE ARMY RESERVE IN JANUARY 1988 AND TRANSFERRED TO THE REGULAR FORCE IN DECEMBER 1993. DAREN ATTENDED RADIO OPERATOR TRAINING AT THE CANADIAN FORCES SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATIONS AND ELECTRONICS (CFSCE) IN MARCH 1994. 2. THROUGHOUT DAREN’S CAREER, HE HAS HAD THE PLEASURE OF SERVING WITH MANY UNITS SUCH AS THE 1ST CANADIAN DIVISION HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL REGIMENT (KINGSTON) – FROM AUGUST 1994 TO AUGUST 2003. 731 SIGNAL SQUADRON (SHILO) – AUGUST 2003 TO SEPTEMBER 2005. 2ND BATTALION PRINCESS PATRICIA’S CANADIAN LIGHT INFANTRY (SHILO) – SEPTEMBER 2005 TO JULY 2008. 734 COMMUNICATION SQUADRON (REGINA) – JULY 2008 TO JULY 2013. 3RD CANADIAN DIVISION HEADQUARTERS (EDMONTON) – JULY 2013 TO JULY 2014. 1 SERVICE BATTALION (EDMONTON) – JULY 2014 TO JULY 2017. 1 CANADIAN MECHANIZED BRIGADE GROUP HEADQUARTERS AND SIGNAL SQUADRON (EDMONTON) – JULY 2017 TO JULY 2018. 38 SIGNAL REGIMENT (THUNDER BAY) […]

Military Communications and Electronics Museum Reopening

by Rory Cory, Museum Executive Director The Military Communications and Electronics Museum is excited to announce the reopening of the museum following the strike on base.  The Mercury Shop reopened 29 April, and the gallery reopened 13 May. This includes the temporary exhibit “Below! NORAD’s Underground Fortresses”, which relates the story of the underground complexes at Cheyenne Mountain and North Bay, on loan from the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence.  Learn about why these complexes were created, and the amount of work that went into creating them.  The exhibit is presented in conjunction with the RCAF centennial.  The Mercury Shop is also selling a wide range of products related to the centennial, including stuffies, ball caps, shirts, keychains, coins, pins and much more!
