Minh-Thi Vo was promoted to the rank of Major by Director General Information Capabilities Force Development (DGICFD), BGen Patrice Sabourin, at the Coventry Building in Ottawa on Wednesday, 14 July 2021. Maj Vo is the Deputy Project Director for the Cyber Defence – Decision Analysis and Response (CD-DAR) Project. Following this promotion, he will bring his cyber domain, and project, management expertise to the Director Land Command and Information (DLCI) later this summer.
COS(IM) Military Medal Presentation On 21 June, 2021, MGen Andrew Jayne, Chief of Staff – Information Management Group, had the pleasure of presenting military honours and awards to members of ADM(IM) at NDHQ Carling. CWO Carson Roberts was presented the Vice Chief Defence Staff (VCDS) Commendation for his commendable leadership and quick reaction following a single vehicle accident in Brockville, Ontario. On 20 June 2019, CWO Carson Roberts quickly took charge of the area in the absence of First Responders and applied crucial first aid to the scene. His efforts prevented further accidents and allowed emergency services to safely navigate to the site. Congratulations from C&E Family to CWO Carson Roberts!
Sergeant Nicole Garlough who is presently posted at Canadian Armed Forces Transition Centre Kingston as a Section Coordinator, was awarded the CDS Commendation on 29 June 2021. As per CANFORGEN 144/20 CMP 069/20 031035Z NOV 20 HONOURS AND DEPARTMENTAL AWARDS ANNOUNCEMENT, Sgt Garlough was commended for the following: (24) SGT N.M. GARLOUGH – FOR TAKING THE LEAD AS FIRST AIDER AND ADMINISTERING FIRST AID TO AN ILL MEMBER OF THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES, INTEGRATED PERSONNEL SUPPORT CENTRE DETACHMENT KINGSTON, ONTARIO, 2018.
On 3 June 2021, LCol Howard Yu received the American Joint Service Commendation Medal from LGen Mark Schwartz, the U.S. Security Coordinator (USSC) to Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA). LCol Yu, Canadian Army, distinguished himself through exceptionally meritorious achievement from November 2020 to March 2021. He went above and beyond to enable the PA during a cessation of US funding to Palestinian Security Sector Reform. His efforts proved critical to the maintenance of USSC and PA relationships during a period of political tension while also being critical to both maintaining and improving PA Security Forces communications infrastructure. The distinct accomplishments of LCol Yu reflect great credit to himself, the Office of USSC, the CAF, and Canada.
