NEWS – Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Recreational Fishing Now Free for Canadian Service Members Ontario’s Government for the People is Giving Back to our Heroes January 2, 2019 11:00 A.M. TORONTO — Ontario’s Government for the People has delivered on its promise and is giving back to those men and women who have sacrificed so much. As of January 1, 2019, all veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members residing in Ontario can enjoy recreational fishing across the province without having to purchase a fishing licence. “Our government is working to show appreciation for veterans and Canadian Armed Forces members, helping make it easier and more affordable to enjoy recreational fishing,” said John Yakabuski, Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry. Recreational fishing is a $2.2 billion industry in Ontario and an important tradition in the lives of many. The Cyber Operator (Cyber Op) occupation was officially stood up on 31 January 2017. The first Cyber Op were identified through a competitive selection process that summer with remuster happening in early fall. At a ceremony held on 3 Nov 17, these “CAF First Cyber Op” were presented with a “Plank Owner’s” certificate recognizing that they are “The Firsts” and have all the bragging right to say so. MGen (Ret’d) Neasmith awarded CF Medallion for Distinguished Service

Former ADM(IM) Chief of Staff MGen (Retired) Neasmith was recently presented with a Canadian Forces Medallion for Distinguished Service (CFMDS), for his exceptional leadership, hard work, and dedication as Deputy Team Leader of the Special Staff Assistance Visit (SSAV) to the Royal Military College (RMC) of Canada from September 2016 to March 2017. The CFMDS is awarded by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to recognize distinguished or outstanding service performed by persons other than active military personnel or by civilian groups.
